The Field

A strong field is assembling in North East Scotland that includes Road to Mallorca leader Casey Jarvis and last week’s British Challenge winner Alex Fitzpatrick. Also in the field are a host of DP World Tour winners including former Scottish Open winner Brandon Stone, Danes Lucas Bjerregaard and Joachim B. Hansen and local favourite David Law. The Scot who has full playing privileges on the DP World Tour is managed by the tournament promoter, 5 Star Sports Agency, and has had the backing of title sponsor Farmfoods from his early days as a professional.

Tartan Pro Tour

No less than 21 players in the field this week have played on the Tartan Pro Tour, the Scottish-based development tour for male and female golfers which is owned by Paul Lawrie, the 1999 Open Champion. For the first time this year, the Tartan Pro Tour order of merit winner will earn his way onto the Challenge Tour which is currently led by Englishman Rhys Thompson with five events remaining.

Defending champion

Javier Sainz secured a maiden European Challenge Tour title at last year’s Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A after overcoming Switzerland’s Jeremy Freiburghaus in a play-off at Newmachar Golf Club. Sainz, currently 60th in the Race to Mallorca rankings, is defending his title this week.
