Ludvig Aberg and Alexander Björk target Swede success at Crans

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg says contending for a first DP World Tour title is “what you dream of” after moving into a share of second place at the Omega European Masters.

The former World Amateur Number One carded a third-round 66 at Crans-sur-Sierre to join compatriot Alexander Björk and Scotland's Connor Syme on 13 under par – two shots behind leader Matt Fitzpatrick.

After closing with a hat-trick of birdies, Aberg – who began with back-to-back bogeys on Saturday - said: “It’s always nice to finish well, especially with the way I started I would have taken that any day standing on the 18th tee box.

“I was swinging it great, struggling a bit on the greens at times, but overall happy with the score today.

“It’s been like this the last two tournaments; I feel I’ve been pretty good tee to green but haven’t been able to put those great rounds together.

“I always try to tell myself to stay patient and let go of frustration. I felt like I did a good job of that today.

“I always have that belief that I can turn it around – as you should. But chipping in on 16 was fun and if you hit great shots down the last couple of holes, there are some birdie chances, but you need to hit those shots. Luckily, I did today and looking forward to tomorrow.

“I can’t wait (for Sunday), it’s what you dream of, what you want to do. Luckily I’m here today and looking forward to tomorrow as well.”

Björk briefly led following a birdie on the 14th but dropped a shot at the penultimate hole as he seeks a second DP World Tour title, having won in China five years ago.

“The first days it felt a bit easier than today, a quick look at the scores it seems like it’s tougher,” he said.

“The pins are a bit more on the edges. It’s tough to put the score (that you think you’ll need to win). I’m just going to try to be a little more sharp, like I was the first two days.”
