Sustainability at the heart of Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final

The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A, taking place at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca from November 2-5, will have several sustainability practices at its core for the Tour’s season finale.

Green Drive - Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final

As part of the European Tour group’s wider Golf for Good initiative regarding environmental responsibility, ensuring sustainability practices has been fundamental in the planning of the Challenge Tour’s showcase event in Spain.

The tournament, similarly to the 2023 edition, will be a carbon neutral tournament, with any unavoidable carbon emissions offset to a Gold Standard Project.

A Green Drive will be setup once again on the driveable par four 15th hole. Each time a player drives the green in the tournament rounds, €100 will be donated to a local tree planting and organic farming project, made possible through the Mallorca Preservation Foundation.

In order to remove plastic waste, packaged water will be provided on-course where required, provided by the LY Company Group, ‘Aqualy’, and water refill stations are available throughout the venue thanks to Fundación Cleanwave.

The media centre and tournament offices will be powered by grid power, rather than generators, and a robust bus shuttle schedule from both official tournament hotels has been arranged through ROIG Drive Mallorca in order to reduce the need for additional hire cars and individual journeys.

The majority of the event will see local suppliers used, with food also sourced locally and prepared on site to reduce any waste.

Adalmo will also be at Club de Golf Alcanada during the week, ensuring responsible waste management.

The tournament is also set to give back to the local community in Mallorca. A visit has been arranged at the start of the tournament week from a local school, with the children learning all about what is involved in running an elite professional golf event.
