The Format: Dimension Data Pro-Am

The Dimension Data Pro-Am offers a different spectacle to the usual 72-hole strokeplay format which forms the majority of the Road to Mallorca International Schedule, as it offers professionals and amateurs the chance to join forces at three of the most renowned courses in Africa.

Fancourt

Over the course of four rounds, two competitions will run side by side as players tee it up on the Montagu, Outenquia and The Links courses at Fancourt Golf Estate. Each professional will be paired with an amateur for the duration of the tournament, with players alternating between the three different courses.

The pros will compete in an individual strokeplay event as per a regulation week on the European Challenge Tour, but will also be part of a Pro-Am competition involving their partner, with the best score on each hole from every pair taken.

After three rounds the field is reduced to 60 professionals including ties, plus the leading 26 Pro-Am teams, with the final round being played on the Montagu.

Players will go in search of a memorable victory to follow in the footsteps of some of the game’s biggest names. Those to have their names etched onto the Dimension Data Pro-Am trophy include former World Number Ones Nick Price and Lee Westwood, 2016 European Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke and his fellow Major Champions Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman, Paul Lawrie and Louis Oosthuizen.

In addition to picking up a cheque for over $53,000, this week’s winner will also earn a spot in the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in July and get the opportunity to tee it up alongside the best players in the world at TPC Southwind, Memphis.
