Everything you need to know from the second round at Gut Altentann Golf Club.
Marcel Schneider kept his two-shot lead while Daniel Hillier benefited from a very fortunate bounce on day two of the 2025 Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand.
Here is everything you need to know from the second round at Gut Altentann Golf Club.
Schneider still the man to catch
First-round leader Schneider kept his foot on the gas on Friday morning, carding four birdies and no bogeys in his 66 to get to 11 under par. That was enough to keep his two-shot lead intact at the halfway stage, with Nicolai von Dellingshausen his closest competitor on nine under. Schneider said: "My plan was to continue what I did yesterday, and that worked out well. I have to say, off the tee I wasn’t as strong as yesterday. But I managed well on the holes where I missed the fairways to come out with par, so I didn’t drop a shot. Overall, super happy."
Lemke chips in
Niklas Lemke showed his quality with this superb chip-in at the sixth. He makes it look easy and I can assure you it's not...
Tarren reminded of home as he makes his move
Callum Tarren surged up the leaderboard in round two as a flawless 63 took him into third place, three shots behind halfway leader Schneider. And the 34-year-old revealed Gut Altentann reminded him of being in the Lake District in the north of England, not far from where he lives. Tarren said: "Being from England, it’s got a very English feel. It feels like I’m in the Lake District, which is only an hour from my house. The golf course is holding up well and let’s hope for an exciting weekend."
Hillier's lucky break
Hillier looked to be in all kinds of trouble as his second shot at the par-five ninth sailed towards the penalty area. But he got an extremely favourable bounce off the rocks and watched his ball fly over the green and onto the bank. He got up and down for a bonus birdie.
