Everything you need to know from the first day at Argentario Golf Club.
Italy's stars shone brightly on home soil while we saw some incredible hole-outs on day one of the 2025 Italian Open.
Here is everything you need to know from the first day at Argentario Golf Club.
Bradbury on top after stunning start
Dan Bradbury flew out of the blocks on Thursday, opening his round with four successive birdies before getting another at the seventh for a front nine of 30. He then sank his 20-foot putt on the 15th to take the outright lead on six under before parring his way home to sign for a flawless 64. He leads by one shot ahead of early clubhouse leader Andreas Halvorsen and Italy's Francesco Laporta.
Ayora plays perfect flop shot
Spaniard Angel Ayora found himself in a tricky spot at the ninth and opted for the flop shot in a bid to get out of the thick rough around the green. He played it to perfection, landing his ball on a dime and watching it roll into the hole for a bonus birdie. The 20-year-old said: "It was amazing, absolutely amazing. I hit a terrible second shot with my 60-degree. I hit it so long and the chip was nearly impossible, downslope with high rough. But I made some magic. I tried to hit a super flop and just hit it absolutely perfect and it went in. It was a hit-and-hope. My hope was just to try and bounce it on the green and we would see what would happen."
Home favourites have a good day
The Italian flag featured prominently on the round-one leaderboard, with Laporta in a tie for second after his 65 and European Ryder Cup Vice Captain Edoardo Molinari and Andrea Pavan two shots further back.
No putter required for Paul
Yannik Paul was looking for something to kick-start his round after turning in 37 and found just the thing at the par-four tenth. His approach shot took three hops on the green before spinning into the hole for an eagle. He appeared keen to know if we caught it on camera - we certainly did, Yannik!
Söderberg chips in
Sebastian Söderberg missed the green at the short 11th but made amends by holing his lengthy chip shot for a brilliant birdie.
