Italian Open: Fantasy DP World Tour ones to watch

As the European Swing resumes with the Italian Open, here is all that players of the DP World Tour's official fantasy game need to know.

After a two-week break for the U.S. Open, the fourth of the five Global Swings on the 2025 Race to Dubai picks back up at Argentario GC.

The DP World Tour makes its first trip to Monte Argentario this week as players battle for the title and Ranking points, with the winner of the Swing after next week's BMW International Open sealing a place in every event of Phase Two of the season - the Back 9 - and a US$200,000 bonus.

Marcel Siem defends his title and he is joined by a host of recent DP World Tour winners, including three of the victors from the Swing so far.

Guido Migliozzi leads the home charge alongside the likes of Ryder Cup Vice Captain Edoardo Molinari and two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner in 2025 Renato Paratore.

From insight into the week’s most-picked players among Fantasy managers, to our ones to watch, we run the rule ahead of Thursday’s deadline to pick your team.

Who are the most backed players?

European Swing leader and Soudal Open champion Kristoffer Reitan is our most-backed player, featuring in 61% of squads after four consecutive top 25s including that win and a second-place in Austria.

Scot Ewen Ferguson is next on 53%, with South African Shaun Norris then on 42% following his recent win in South Korea.

Recent winner Martin Couvra and home hero Francesco Laporta round out the top five at 37% and 30% respectively.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Jordan Smith

A man who is rarely outside of the bookmakers' thoughts at regular DP World Tour events, the Englishman comes in as favourite this week and it's not difficult to see why. Since finishing second at the Volvo China Open, he has three top tens in five starts around a victory in U.S. Open Qualifying and he arrives this week after making the cut over the treacherous test that was Oakmont Country Club. Smith has been one of the DP World Tour's most consistent performers for almost a decade and most observers would state his talent should have yeilded more than his two wins - the last of which came with a record-breaking 30 under at the 2022 Portugal Masters.

Form Horse - Nicolai von Dellingshausen

Sometimes it takes just one week to change your form and in some cases your season and career. That is certainly the case with Von Dellingshausen who arrived at the Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand 113th in the Race to Dubai Rankings before claiming his maiden win. He followed that up with a top ten at the KLM Open so arrives in Italy playing well and full of confidence. It is also worth noting that while this is the DP World Tour's first visit to Argentario GC, the HotelPlanner Tour was here last season for the Italian Challenge Open where Von Dellingshausen finished third.

Wild Card - Renato Paratore

It may seem strange to have a two-time DP World Tour winner who is just 28 years old as a Wild Card but Paratore has not been able to keep hold of his card since 2022, when he agonisingly missed out on keeping his playing privileges by one shot before falling short at the Qualifying School by the same margin. He was successful at the 2023 Qualifying School but once again lost his card and is now focusing on the HotelPlanner Tour where he is flourishing. The Italian won in back-to-back weeks in the UAE in April and has not missed a cut since to sit atop the Road to Mallorca. Another HotelPlanner Tour win would see him back on Tour but of course, so would a victory this week.

Looking back - U.S. Open

JJ Spaun was enjoying a fine season before he won his maiden Major Championship at the U.S. Open but it seems players of our game still did not fancy him, with just 530 players, or 1.68%, taking home the 164 points he earned at Oakmont. Special mention to the three - yes just three - players who had him as their captain.

Our Favourite Scottie Scheffler secured a top ten in Pennsylvania, with Form Horse Sepp Straka and Wild Card Guido Migliozzi both missing the cut.
