ADNOC Hole-in-One Pledge | Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

ADNOC Group, a tournament partner of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, are running a brilliant sustainability initiative in the region in their drive to help lower greenhouse gases and protect the coastlines of the UAE.

Their overall goal is to plant ten million mangrove trees in the region, but in addition to that, they are also pledging to plant a million more for every hole-in-one that’s made on the par-three eighth this week.

Khalid Saleem, Executive Director, Downstream, Marketing & Trading at ADNOC, said: “Mangroves are an extremely important element of our strategy for sustainability, they sequester more than the rain forest by 400 per cent and are as such an excellent complement to the environment.”

Two-time Rolex Series winner Bernd Wiesberger joined Khalid on the eighth hole earlier this week to chat on the concept and, as a man who knows a few things about making an ace (he made one last week in his pre-event preparation), he said that, “as an athlete traveling the world a lot, we need to take care of it as much as we can and an initiative like this is very important.”

All eyes will be on the picturesque eighth at Yas Links this week!
