Alfred Dunhill Links Championship: Day Three Digest

Jarvis holds 'dream' lead, Jordan seeking full circle moment and an incredible amount of great golf shots.

Here's what happened on day three of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Jarvis takes a two shot lead in to the final round

Casey Jarvis said he is realising every golfer's dream by taking a two-shot lead at St Andrews into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he goes in search of his third win of the season on the DP World Tour.

The South African extended his second round lead to two shots over Matthew Jordan and Adrian Meronk thanks to a third round 65 at that included five birdies and a hole out eagle.

Jarvis, who claimed the Magical Kenya Open presented by Asba and the Investec South African Open Championship earlier this year, said he is keen to enjoy the moment as he attempts to become the first three-time winner this season.

"Every golfer dreams of taking a lead, playing the Old Course on Sunday," he said. "I got goosebumps right now just standing here. I just can't wait for tomorrow. Even if I don't win, you know, to be taking the lead, I'm just going to enjoy it as much as I can.

"I mean, obviously I know I'm going to be feeling pressure tomorrow. I have won twice this year. So I kind of know how to deal with it a little better. I still know I'm going to feel first tee nerves and pressure throughout the day."

Matthew Jordan has a chance to win first DP World title at the site of his first big amateur win

Matthew Jordan is hoping for a full circle moment at the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he looks to realise his dream of a first DP World Tour title at the site of his 2017 St Andrews Links Trophy victory as an amateur.

The Englishman, who has finished as the runner-up twice this season already, carded a bogey-free 66 during his third round at Kingsbarns to finish at 16-under-par.

"I want to be in the last few groups and I want to give myself a really good chance, certainly, on Sunday, and yeah, that's what I've done today," he said. "So let's see what tomorrow brings."

"I have a few memories, my dad was an R&A member before I was a pro. I have a few memories of him and my dad playing the Old Course, which was brilliant. So of course the St Andrews Links, I managed to win that one as well, my first big amateur title. It's a place I'm quite fond of."

Padraig Harrington is the only player to compete in all 25 editions of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and he gauranteed he'd be here for the weekend in style on Saturday with a four-under 68 at The Old Course to sit on 10-under-par.

Detry relishing chance to get maiden DP World Tour victory

Thomas Detry has an impressive resume in professional golf, but one thing that has elluded him thus far is a victory on the DP World Tour.

The Belgian has had five career runner-ups, but heading into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship just three behind the leader, Detry said its hard not to imagine his opportunity tomorrow.

"It's hard not to. The idea of having my picture on the bridge there with the trophy sounds pretty good to me. I'll just stick to my routine, do what I'm doing well. I feel like I've controlled my mind pretty well the last couple weeks, actually, and it was the same story last week.

"Just stick to the process, and tomorrow will be a fun day. We're expecting a little bit of wind tomorrow but the Old Course is still gettable. I think whoever wins tomorrow will have to shoot low."

Starting with the best....

There was a phenomenal amount of great golf shots on Saturday, but does it get better than holing your second shot of the day for an opening eagle?

Four monster putts

Jose Luis Ballester had the biggest of the lot, but there were also impressive putts from Detry, Meronk and Sam Bairstow on Saturday in Scotland.

More hole outs!

Jarvis was the only player to do it on his first hole, but these shots from Dylan Naidoo and

And finally....

just some pretty decent golf shots that ALMOST went in.
