Alfred Dunhill Links Championship: Day Two Digest

Jarvis leads the way, Jordan gets the best of Carnoustie, Sharma holes out on 18 and Sue Fitzpatrick has plenty of highlights.

Here's what happened on day two of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Jarvis leads the way

Casey Jarvis is searching for more success this season after making a birdie on the final hole of his round to earn a one shot lead after 36 holes of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The 23-year-old South African, who claimed the Magical Kenya Open presented by Asba and the Investec South African Open Championship earlier this year, found the par-five ninth green at Kingsbarns with his second shot and two-putted from long range for a 67.

"I played really nicely," he said afterwards. "I felt the whole day, hit the ball really solid. My approach play was really good. Luckily rolled in a few putts in my front nine, which is the back nine, and I just felt really in control of my game out there.

"It's nice to have the old course for two rounds in a row now. You watch the Open growing up as a kid and now to be in contention in a tournament like this. Yeah, I'm just looking forward to it and I can't wait to get out there over the weekend."

Jordan finally gets the better of Carnoustie

Matthew Jordan spent much of the day at the top of the leaderboard, and sits one behind Jarvis after beating his previous score at Carnoustie during the Dunhill Links by five shots.

A seven-under 65 beat his previous best, a 70 in 2024, and the Englishman said he was pleased he had a good score at a course he's felt he's struggled at.

“It's just been, in this event, my Achilles' heel. I remember shooting 9-under at St Andrews and came here and the weather was absolutely horrendous.

“Yeah, I can't kick myself too much but I think I shot 5-under there, and I think the year before, I shot 8-under and 6-under, and then I think came here and shot kind of level or 1-under. So it's always really kind of held me back a bit.

"It's just hard golf holes. Where the wind is normally, you have a couple of nice ones, but there's a handful in there that keep you honest. Really pleasing to come away from this and finally shooting a good score around here.”

A hole out for Shubhankar!

Is there a better hole in golf to sink your approach shot than the 18th at The Old Course, St Andrews? The two-time DP World Tour winner delighted the fans - and himself - with an eagle two on his ninth hole of the day for the shot of the day.

Speaking of good shots...

The good shots also belonged to the amateurs on day two of the Dunhill, and this putt from actor Michael Peña - playing in this event for this first time alongside Austin Bautista - is one of them!

Neither Alex or Matt can get closer than Sue...

Sue Fitzpatrick showed exactly why she's produced two superstars on Friday at Kingsbarns, hitting a brilliant shot to the fifth green. Both Alex and Matt then hit, but couldn't do any better than their mum.

A putting lesson for dad...

Speaking of the Fitzpatrick's....

After Russell Fitzpatrick showed off an unsuual putting technique on Thursday at Carnoustie, Alex decided to watch over and give a few tips to his dad ahead of their second round at Kingsbarns.

A reminder.... golf is a cruel game

So... so close.
