The Spaniard earned promotion to the DP World Tour in 2018 after winning the season ending Ras Al Khaimah Grand Final in 2018, however after enjoying five seasons on golf’s Global Tour he narrowly missed out on retaining his playing privileges for 2025.

The 30-year-old returned to the HotelPlanner Tour this year and he will be hoping to taste success in Spain again, following a maiden DP World Tour at the Catalunya Championship in 2022.

“I have been lucky enough to play in some big tournaments throughout my career with some of the best players in the world but the moments that stand out are definitely when I was able to lift the trophy,” he said.

“I won the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final in 2018 after a very solid year which gave me the platform to play on the DP World Tour. To win close to my come at PGA Catalunya in 2022 in front of my family and friends is a memory I will cherish forever.

“Whenever I play at home, I feel very supported and it’s always such a nice week. My mother will be here and she has been my number one supporter since day one, which is very special.”

Arnaus was a member of the Pro Spain Team Program in 2019, an initiative established by the Real Federación Española de Golf which helps elite golf players in their first years after turning professional, and he highlighted the importance that the programme has had on his career.

“The Real Federación Española de Golf has always been by my side from an early age,” he said. “They were there for me when I was competing as an amateur and my early years as a professional golfer with not only financial support but also to give me playing opportunities.

“I was last in Cadiz in 2010, and I have some great memories. I played in the under-21 Spanish tournament at 15-years-old and finished third behind Sebastian Garcia and Jon Rahm, who won the event.

“The course is in amazing condition and the greens are immaculate. It’s a very good set up this week and it will also be a good challenge in the wind.”

A stellar field assembles in Cadiz this week including defending champion Jonathan Goth-Rasmussen, who arrives in a buoyant mood after picking up his second HotelPlanner Tour victory at last week’s Danish Golf Challenge, and Italian Renato Paratore who is hoping to secure automatic promotion with a third victory of the season.

The Challenge de Cadiz will get under way at 8am local time tomorrow, with Arnaus teeing it up alongside Paratore and Scotland’s Calum Fyfe at 2pm.
