Bachem goes low on day two at INFINITUM

Nick Bachem catapulted himself into contention at the Final Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School after posting a sensational ten under par second round of 61.

The German’s second round was 15 shots better than his first round 76 and he now enters round three on six under par, four shots behind four-time DP World Tour winner Kiradech Aphibarnrat who sits in pole position.

“It was just amazing,” he said. “It was a little bit surprising because in round one I didn’t putt very well and it’s so hard to shoot low scores when the putter isn’t hot. I made a technical change with my putting and today it was perfect.”

“I hit every green and set up so many birdieopportunities. I even felt like I could have made a couple more putts to be honest.

“I think it comes down to mindset. Everyone here has a good technique but it is about how to best use that on the golf course. I enjoyed it out there today because I decided to put less pressure on myself.”

Bachem has enjoyed an impressive first season on the Challenge Tour, finishing 25th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, and he is now targeting back-to-back promotions in Tarragona with the top 25 and ties earning DP World Tour playing priviledges.

“It would be amazing to get my DP World Tour card this week,” he said. “I’ve been happy with my first year on the Challenge Tour and have surprised myself at times. I’m feeling pretty confident about my game and now I need to focus on getting the job done.”
