Balls for Birdies initiative helps support global golf grassroots projects

An initiative aimed at helping to make golf more accessible around the world has seen the number of golf balls donated to grassroots projects rise above 350,000.

In 2024, DP World, global logistics provider and title partner of the DP World Tour, launched the Balls for Birdies initiative, building on their Second Life Container campaign which had previously collected and donated over 280,000 used, lost and unwanted golf balls to grassroots golf programs worldwide.

Linked to the success of players on the DP World Tour during the 2024 Race to Dubai campaign, one ball was donated for each birdie, two balls for each eagle and 100 balls for each albatross.

In total, 67,329 balls have been donated as part of the pledge since the start of Balls for Birdies at the Hero Indian Open in March and through to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Aimed at growing the game globally and inspiring the next generation, the Second Life Container was launched in 2022 and has since visited 19 tournaments in the past three seasons.

DP World has used it global logistics network to travel and deliver the balls – and equipment – to four countries (Kenya, India, South Africa and the United Kingdom).

DP World and the DP World Tour are delighted to announce the initiative will return for the 2025 season and continue to support global grassroots initiatives.
