A mixture of Meadowgrass, fescues and Marram.
Fairways
The fairways are quite narrow, cut to an average of 25 yards.
Rough
The semi-rough is 18 feet wide on each side of the fairway and cut to 35mm. Beyond that is unmaintained, natural links rough.
Greens
The greens are relatively small, firm and stimping at 9'6"
Course General
Ballybunion is a classic links course. The fairways are firm and if the recent high temperatures continue will become fast and bouncy. As with any links course, the wind will be the biggest factor, and it's forecast to be up to 20mph for the tournament week. Playersdon't want to miss the fairway/semi-rough on any hole as the natural links rough is very penal. Holes 2, 6, 11 and 12 play right along the edge of a clifftop.
