BMW International Open: DP World Tour Fantasy Ones to Watch

The BMW International Open marks the final event of the European Swing and here is all that players of the DP World Tour's official fantasy game need to know.

The fourth and penultimate Global Swing in Phase One of the 2026 Race to Dubai season comes to a close this week in Germany.

After five events in as many countries, the DP World Tour makes a visit to Germany at Golfclub München Eichenried.

The tournament was first played played in 1989 and has been an ever-present on the DP World Tour schedule since aside from the Covid-19 affected camapign in 2020.

In the tournament's history, Martin Kaymer is the only homegrown winner but the likes of Matti Schmid, Marcel Siem and Freddy Schott among others will hope to change that.

Kaymer is one of four Major champions teeing it up, along with Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World leader Patrick Reed and the American's fellow Masters winners Danny Willett and Sergio Garcia.

Dan Brown, a dual member on the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, is bidding to become the first player to successfully defend the title.

Who are the most backed players?

For the second event running, Joaquín Niemann is the most popular pick featuring in 72%.

Marco Penge, last season's Race to Dubai runner-up, is second at 46%, with home favourite Matti Schmid at 40%.

Kota Kaneko and Eugenio Chacarra, who tops the European Swing Rankings, round out the top five at 26%.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite: Joaquin Niemann

The Chilean put up a strong challenge to claim his second DP World Tour title at the DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia, holding the 36-hole before settling for solo third. The result, on the back of a career-best tie for seventh in a Major Championship at the U.S. Open a week earlier has lifted him to the cusp of a return to the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This week marks his debut at the BMW International Open, with the 27-year-old a favourite for both players of our Fantasy game and the betting markets.

Form Horse: Eugenio Chacarra

The Spaniard has won in the Netherlands and Italy in his last two starts, joining Jayden Schaper and Casey Jarvis as the third player to win back-to-back titles this season. Since finishing runner-up on the defence of his maiden DP World Tour title in India in March, he has not missed a cut, and his consistent run of form has seen him rise to third in the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World. A winner now of three national opens, having won the Hero Indian Open last year, victory this week in Germany would see him emulate Sir Nick Faldo and the late, great Seve Ballesteros as just the third player to win three consecutive DP World Tour events.

Wild Card: David Micheluzzi

In a season that has already seen nine first-time winners, could the Australian see us reach double figures? While Italy’s national open was his first event this season where he played over the weekend since the Turkish Airlines Open, he is a player who can more than compete at the top end of leaderboards. It was at this event in 2024 where he finished runner-up, finishing two shots adrift of winner Ewen Ferguson. With just one top ten to his name so far this season in Qatar, a big performance would be timely as he looks to climb the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Looking back - DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia

On the back of his win at the KLM Open earlier this month, it was perhaps no surprise that Chacarra was a popular pick among our Fantasy players as the Spaniard rewarded the 3,976 of you with 237 points.

From our picks, aside from picking Chacarra as our Form Horse, Race to Dubai leader and Favourite Reed finished in a tie for 45th while Wild Card missed the cut on home soil.
