Magnus A Carlsson and Jaco van Zyl fired six under par 66s today to put pressure on the leaders in the third round at the South African Open Championship hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni.
Carlsson, of Sweden, hit nine birdies and South African van Zyl eight to move to 10 under and nine under respectively. Level with van Zyl was countryman Warren Abery and Johan Carlsson after 68s.
Overnight leaders Charl Schwartzel, the pre-tournament favourite, and Marco Crespi, each picked up a shot at the par five second but made a bogey before birdying the par three sixth.
A hole ahead of the frontrunners, Morten Ørum Madsen was level par today to stay on 11 under where Andrea Pavan joined him thanks to an eagle at the par fourth 12th.
