Charmasson hunts back-to-back wins in Bogense

Clement Charmasson is looking to build on his maiden HotelPlanner Tour win when he tees it up at this week’s Danish Golf Challenge at Bogense Golf Club.

The Frenchman catapulted himself into the top ten on the Road to Mallorca Rankings following his Challenge de España win a fortnight ago, with victory coming in just his fifth start on the HotelPlanner Tour.

Charmasson, who earned promotion from the Pro Golf Tour in 2024, returns to the tee in Denmark having enjoyed his time away from the course during the one-week break on the HotelPlanner Tour schedule.

“I enjoyed this week,” he said. “I had my friends and family over this weekend, so I didn’t sleep a lot!

“I played a couple of rounds at the end of the week and my game was still there, so I was happy about that. I feel more confident, but we all know this game. One week it can be with you, the next it won’t, and you have no idea why.”

The 26-year-old admits he’s looking to stay grounded this week, despite coming off a career-high moment in Girona, on a golf course making its first appearance on the Road to Mallorca.

“It’s back to zero for me,” he added. “It’s a new week, a new golf course, different weather. To get it done once is really hard. Obviously, I want to do my best to keep it going but we all know that you need to get lucky and that playing good golf is not enough.

“I feel confident about this week and the game is there, but we all know that there’s no guarantees. It’s my first time here. I got to play the European Team Championship in Malmo a couple of years ago which is close.

“I grew up playing links golf so I would say it fits me, and I am pretty good at adapting my game for it. The wind is going to blow hard, so just got to play smart and keep the ball in the right spot.”

Charmasson would cement his position inside the Road to Mallorca’s top 20 with another strong performance this week, with victory in Spain seeing him move a step closer to earning DP World Tour status come the end of the year.

“That [DP World Tour status] was the goal at the beginning of the year and to not put any limit on that,” the Frenchman added.

“It was something I thought about at the start of the season. I knew I was playing well, and it’s put me in a good spot, so I’ll see if I can get that ticket for next year.”

Charmasson is part of a strong field in Bogense, which includes two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner Renato Paratore, Road to Mallorca Number Three Joshua Berry and in-form Dane Victor Sidal-Svendsen, who sits eighth in the Rankings.
