Daniel Chopra moved into a share of the lead at the Iskandar Johor Open after the Swede climbed to eight under par following a solid start to his second round at Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club.
With electrical storms forcing an early end to Thursday's play, Chopra returned on Friday morning to play the final four holes of his first round and eventually signed for a seven under 64 that featured an eagle, seven birdies and a double bogey five at the 12th.
It meant the 37 year old began his second round one behind clubhouse leader Joost Luiten and birdies at the first and fifth saw Chopra overahaul the Dutchman and assume the outright lead. However, a bogey at the seventh dropped him back to eight under and level with Luiten, who goes out in the afternoon.
"I stayed very patient. I knew that this is a golf course where if you play well, you will be able to make some birdies," said Chopra after completing his first round.
"I made my first birdie on 15 then I eagled 18, which got me some momentum. After that, it seemed quite easy.
"I didn’t hit the ball that well this morning, I had some lose shots. In that regard, it did stop my momentum a little bit but now with a bit of break, maybe I can go out, hit some balls and get that momentum back."
Chapchai Nirat joined the group at seven under par, as birdies at the 11th and 13th were followed by a bogey at the 14th. Rikard Karlberg was the biggest mover of the morning, the Swede sinking five birdies in his opening eight holes to reach six under par alongside countryman Christian Nilsson and Bangladesh's Mohammed Siddikur, who were both two under for the day.
