General
The course is 7363 yards but the fairways are running so it will play shorter than this, subject to the wind which is the major factor for this seaside venue.
As a Links course, the test will be defined by the wind and the firmness of the greens, which will be defined by the rainfall (expected to be quite heavy). With heavy fescue rough, it will be essential to hit the fairway to control the approach to the greens.
The par 3’s, especially the 15th, are real feature holes of this renowned Links course. The 1st hole has been redesigned to play closer to the water, and holes 2, 5 8 and 16 have had new tees built to extend the holes.
Fairways
Average width. Will be running fast as per classic Links set up. Relatively flat though.
Rough

3m of intermediate rough at 60mm.
The remainder of rough is unmaintained.
Greens
Expected to reach 10 – 10.5 on stimpmeter by Thursday. The greens are quite small and they are intended to be very firm for the event.
