Grasses
Tees & Fairway - Rye grass and poa
Greens - Creeping bent grass, bent with poa
Fairways
The fairways are fairly wide but any stray shots will be heavily penalised by trees, bushes, sandy rough and ice plant.
Rough
There is a band of rough beside the fairways, last cut to 80mm, and a number of sandy waste areas typical of the links nature of the course.
Greens
Large undulating greens.
Stimpmeter reading on Monday, March 16, prior to the tournament - 9.6, aiming for 10 by Thursday.
Greens are being cut 3 times a day at 2.7mm
General
The wind tends to be a major factor at El Saler, it often picks up in the afternoons. It is an excellent test of golf, a long course with a mixture of tree lined and links holes. The course is in very good condition.
