A Memorial Service for Dave Thomas, who died in August, will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 11am at Lichfield Cathedral, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 7LD and afterwards in The Lichfield Suite at The Belfry, Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield, B76 9PR.
Dave, who was the PGA Captain in its Centenary Year of 2001, played in four Ryder Cup teams and won more than 20 tournaments in a career that saw him twice runner up in The Open Championship.
After his playing days ended he embarked on a successful career as a course designer and leaves a legacy of 150 courses around the world.
Many were designed with his great friend Peter Alliss, notably The Belfry’s famous Brabazon course that went on to host four Ryder Cups.
To assist arrangements please let David Wright (david.wright@pga.org.uk) know by email if you will be attending.
