Adrian Meronk is still on course to record a memorable wire to wire victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship after finishing the third round at the top of the pile, but he has two home favourites breathing down his neck.

Meronk out to make more history

European Challenge Tour graduate Meronk spent the first two days writing his name into the record books. On Thursday, he became the first Polish player to hold a share of the lead at the end of a round on the European Tour. On Friday, he became the first player from Poland to hold the outright lead at the end of a round on the European Tour. And on Sunday he could become the first Pole to win a European Tour event after posting a patient 71 on day three to take a one shot lead into the final round.

Sensational Schaper

Meronk's closest challenger at the top of the leaderboard is South African teenager Jayden Schaper after he mixed an eagle with three birdies in a spotless 67 on Saturday. The 19-year-old picked up four shots in his final four holes, following up an eagle from six feet on the 15th with closing birdies at the 17th and 18th. His gain at the last came courtesy of a nerveless approach shot over the water. What pressure?

Hill makes his move

Scotland's Calum Hill posted the joint lowest round of the day on Saturday to climb into contention. His 67, which contained six birdies and a single bogey, took him into a share of sixth place on nine under par. He said: "I'm very happy. Actually the first time I saw a leaderboard was on the 18th and I didn't realise I would be quite as high as that. That puts me in a decent spot for tomorrow."

Walking it in...

When home favourite Christiaan Bezuidenhout struck his ten foot birdie putt at the 18th, he didn't exactly like the look of it. But he went after it anyway and as it got closer to the hole, it got better and better before settling in the cup. His closing birdie saw him sign for a 68 and moved him to 11 under, just three shots behind Meronk.

Hansen at the sixth

Last week's Joburg Open winner Joachim B. Hansen has had plenty of joy at the par four sixth this week, making a birdie there every single day so far. Here was Saturday's effort...

That birdie moved Hansen to 13 under par and handed him a two shot lead at the time, but a disappointing quadruple bogey on the 11th would stall his progress. He heads into the final round five shots behind Meronk.
