• When José Maria Olazábal won by five shots in 2005, he created European Tour history by becoming the first player to win a European Tour event on the course they designed.
• Should the Mallorca Classic witness a fourth consecutive Spanish victory, it will only be the second time in European Tour history that an event has produced four successive Spanish wins, following the BBVA Masters, with Diego Borrego (1996), Olazábal (1997) and Miguel Angel Jiménez (1998 and 1999).
• Olazábal has enjoyed much success over the Pula layout. In 2003 he was second; tenth in 2004 and first in 2005. From his 11 rounds in the event, Olazábal is 18 under par and matched par or better in ten of them.
