The field for the event will be 64 players comprising:
The top 64 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday 11th February 2002
Note:
(i) The next 3 available players will be official travelling alternates up until the release of the first round draw on Monday evening – 18th February. After this time any withdrawals will result in a walkover for the paired opponent.
(ii) Any ties in the qualifying or alternate ranking positions will be broken by the following criteria in order:
(a) Total World Ranking points earned in the 52 week period leading up to 11th February 2002.
(b) Position of tied players in Final 2001 World Money List.
