INTERESTING FACTS
Defending Champion, Colin Montgomerie bids for a fourth Volvo Scandinavian Masters title and to become the first player to successfully defend the crown. On his way to a tie for sixth place in the 1991 event, Fred Couples fired 12 birdies in his second round while shooting a 61 (-11). He is one of four players to compile 12 birdies in a single round on The European Tour. The other three are Ernie Els (1994 Dubai Desert Classic), Russell Claydon (1995 Mercedes German Masters) and Darren Clarke (1999 Smurfit European Open). Again in the 1991 edition, Klas Eriksson, produced the lowest four round total by an amateur of 274 (-14), when claiming a share of sixth – a European Tour record that still stands.
