Fahrbring impresses to move two clear in Poland

Jens Fahrbring impressed for the second successive day at Rosa Golf Club to move into a two-stroke lead heading into the weekend of the Rosa Challenge Tour.

The Swede, who carded a seven under par round of 63 on day one, registered six birdies and two bogeys on day two to reach 11 under par for the week, two clear of Spaniard Angel Ayora who sits in second place on nine under par.

The 40-year-old, who recorded a tied 27th finish in the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour last week, is delighted to be back in contention after battling with injury over the past 12 months.

“It’s very pleasing to be in this position,” he said. “My game has been very rusty coming back from injury, but the last three or four weeks, I’m starting to get used to the nerves you feel when you play tournament golf.

“I played some nice golf again today. I think the pins were a little bit trickier, so I had to manage my game a little bit better.

“I stayed patient and made a few nice putts on the back nine, so it was a good day.”

Fahrbring, starting at the tenth, mixed two birdies with one bogey on his front nine, before firing four birdies in his opening fives holes after the turn to move into the outright lead.

The two-time Challenge Tour winner last tasted victory in 2015 at the D+D Real Czech Challenge and is hoping his aggressive approach in Konopiska can continue to help him towards a third title this weekend.

“I’m just trying to relax as much as I can and concentrate on each shot and try to play a little bit more aggressive this week,” he added. “We’ll have to see over the weekend where it takes me.

“It is hard to come back and play well two days in a row. I was thinking to myself on the course actually that it’s easy to compare yourself with what you did yesterday.

"You have to stay as neutral as possible which can be difficult, but I think I managed to do it quite well.”

Dane Martin Simonsen sits three shots off the lead in third place on eight under par, with three players one shot further back in fourth including overnight leader Alexander Levy from France, Swede Björn Åkesson and Norwegian Herman Wibe Sekne

The third round gets under way at 7:45am local time, with Fahrbring teeing off alongside Ayora and Simonsen at 11:46.
