Fisher and Murray lead the chase

Oliver Fisher and George Murray were hot on the heels of James Morrison following an eventful start to the final round of the Madeira Islands Open BPI - Portugal.

Morrison, seeking a maiden European Tour title, held a three-shot advantage overnight following an impressive third round of 66.

But the Challenge Tour graduate bogeyed two of his three opening holes on Sunday to slip back to 16 under par, before recovering with a birdie on the par five sixth.

Fisher made a blistering start, with four straight birdies from the third lifting him to within a stroke of the lead.

And Murray was also well placed on 16 under after he bounced back from an opening bogey with an eagle at the sixth.

Simon Thornton held fourth place on 11 under, one clear of Michael Hoey, Charles-Edouard Russo, Gary Clark and John Parry.

Alessandro Tadini enjoyed a wonderful start to his round, with four birdies in his first six holes.

However, the Italian dropped a shot on the par three ninth to drop back to nine under.

Jean-Baptiste Gonnet looked set to claim the clubhouse lead. The Frenchman was eight under with four holes to play after picking up five shots on the final day.
