Ross Fisher turned in 32 to make a big move through the field early on day two of the KLM Open at The Dutch.
The Englishman had started the day five shots behind overnight leader Ben Evans but four birdies on the back nine saw him move to five under and sit just one back of his countryman.
Evans could not yet be caught by the early starters and still held the lead ahead of his 1410 tee-time, but the group behind was growing on another glorious day in Spijk.
Fisher birdied the tenth, 12th, 14th and 17th and he was joined at five under by playing partner Scott Hend.
The Australian finished second in Switzerland last week and continued his good form with two birdies and a bogey in his first nine holes.
Byeong-hun An, Nino Bertasio, Chris Hanson, Peter Hanson, Mikko Korhonen, Joakim Lagergren and Bernd Wiesberger were all also at five under and due out in the afternoon.
Soomin Lee, Mike Lorenzo-Vera and Fabrizio Zanotti all picked up shots to move into the large group of players two shots off the lead.
Frenchman Lorenzo-Vera had held a share of the lead when he eagled the sixth but two bogeys saw him fall back.
The cut mark was already at one under with another day of low scoring expected in the Netherlands.
