Gaunt just misses out in Melbourne

Challenge Tour graduate Daniel Gaunt finished third behind his compatriot Stuart Appleby at the JBWere Masters on the Australasian Tour.

Gaunt finished two strokes behind Appleby courtesy of a closing round of 71 at Victoria Golf Club, in his birthplace of Melbourne.

The 31 year old briefly shared the lead with the eventual winner, but a double bogey at the 16th hole effectively cost him any chance of victory.

Australian Adam Bland finished in second place on nine under par, with World Number Two Tiger Woods of America in fourth place after he signed for a round of 65 which included two eagles.
