Genworth Stats Pack - Round 2 Review

Matteo Manassero produced yet another day of exhibition golf to forge ahead at the half way stage. He is performing very well in most departments of the game but he is really excelling on the greens, ranking 1st for all three of the Genworth Putting Statistics categories. The 20 year old Italian maestro has also converted more birdies than any other player so far (16 in total with no less than 11 of them on the back nine holes). Back to back wins are urging closer.

Mikko Ilonen converted nine birdies (including four twos) on his way to a superb bogey free round of 63. Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the first two rounds, the 33 year old golfer from Finland is driving the ball long and straight off the tee and he is hitting lots of greens in regulation, plus his scrambling and putting is also very strong. With two 2nd place finishes from his last four starts (and a 12th last week at Wentworth), Mikko’s third European Tour win is surely just around the corner.

Peter Whiteford fired one eagle and five birdies over his final seven holes today for a second round 63. Looking at his Genworth Tournament Statistics, the 32 year old Scotsman has hit 20/26 fairways and 24/36 greens in regulation, plus he has scrambled 9/12 times for par and taken just 50 putts in total. Note that the Par 5 holes are playing their part with the three leading players all ranking 2nd for Par 5 Scoring (4.30 average).
