Genworth Stats Pack - Round 3 Review

Round 3 of the Alstom Open de France produced 17 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 72.65. Graeme McDowell and Richard Sterne lead on -5 with Bernd Wiesberger, David Howell and Richard Green following close behind. We analyse their performances plus we round up the Genworth Statistics leaders.

Graeme MCDOWELL -5

Graeme McDowell converted two birdies against one bogey during a very steady third round 70, to tie for the lead going into Sunday. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 33 year old golfer from Northern Ireland ranks 13th for Driving Accuracy (with 31/42 fairways) and 1st for Greens in Regulation (with 45/54 greens), plus he has dropped fewer shots than any other player in the field (just 3 bogeys in total). The current world number 9 has already won twice this year and he will be difficult to beat tomorrow.

Richard STERNE -5

Richard Sterne enjoyed a good finish to his third round to tie McDowell for the lead with 18 holes to play. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 31 year old South African looks very solid across the board, including ranking 1st for Par 5 Scoring (with a 4.44 average) and 2nd for Birdies per Round (with 15 birdies in total). The stunning Le Golf National course is a perfect set-up for the six time European Tour winner, who has already won earlier this year in Joburg.

Bernd WIESBERGER -4

Bernd Wiesberger converted four birdies against one bogey on his way to a superb third round 68 (only Francesco Molinari managed to beat that score). Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 27 year old golfer from Austria is driving the ball long (averaging 315 yards off the tee) and he seems to have his eye in on the greens (ranking very high for each of the putting categories), plus he has converted more birdies than any other player (17 in total).

David HOWELL -4

David Howell converted four birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round 69. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 38 year old Englishman is ranking well in each of the short game categories, plus he ranks 1st for Par 5 Scoring. The only possible critisism is that he is yet to make a birdie on a Par 3 hole. The four time European Tour winner has not enjoyed the best of form over recent weeks after an extremely consistent early part of the year. A big finish tomorrow could cement his Race to Dubai.

Richard GREEN -4

Richard Green is well placed going into Sunday after a third round 70 which consisted of seven birdies, three bogeys and a triple bogey on the 10th hole. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 42 year old golfer from Australia is driving the ball straight (with 34/42 fairways) but he ranks slightly lower than expected for Greens in Regulation (with 32/54 greens). The 3 time European Tour winner’s touch on and around the greens has been sublime though, plus he ranks 2nd for Par 4 Scoring and 1st for Par 5 Scoring. Like Howell, Richard is struggling a little on the Par 3 holes.
