Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Round 4 of The Irish Open produced 20 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 73.26. Paul Casey emerged as the eventual winner on -14 with Robert Rock, Joost Luiten and Pablo Larrazábal finishing as his closest challengers. We analyse their performances plus we round up the final Genworth Statistics leaders.

Paul CASEY -14

Five birdies, two bogeys and a magical eagle putt on the final green helped Paul Casey to the low round of the day and the title by three shots. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 35 year old Englishman was strong in nearly every category, and especially on the greens which is the area that has perhaps kept him from the winners circle this year up to now. He also topped the Birdies per Round ranking alongside José María Olazábal and ranked 2nd for Par 5 Scoring behind only Alvaro Quiros. Look out because the flood gates may open for multiple victories in the coming months for the now 12 time European Tour winner.

Robert ROCK -11

Robert Rock finished with two birdies for a final round 71 to tie for 2nd place. It was a much needed big finish for the 2 time European Tour winner who has not enjoyed the best of seasons so far. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 36 year old Englishman drove the ball well and hit a reasonable number of Greens in Regulation, but more impressively he ranked 1st for Scrambling (19/23 saves) and 1st for Par 4 Scoring (3.83 average), plus he dropped fewer shots than any other player in the field (just 5 bogeys in total). A great week’s work.

Joost LUITEN -11

Joost Luiten finally ran out of steam today with a closing 74, following 15 under Par rounds of golf in a row. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 27 year old golfer from the Netherlands performed extremely well from tee to green, ranking 1st for Driving Accuracy, 4th for Greens in Regulation and 4th for Scrambles, plus he ranked 1st for Par 4 Scoring with a 3.83 average (alongside Robert Rock and Ricardo Santos). Interestingly the only thing that perhaps prevented Joost from winning the title was his Par 3 Scoring (3.19 without a single birdie on those holes all week). Maybe they just didn’t quite fit his eye.

Ambassador

Pablo LARRAZÁBAL -9

Genworth Ambassador Pablo Larrazábal could only manage one birdie against four bogeys during his final round 75 in the tough playing conditions (his final round scoring has not been as good as the earlier round scoring so far this year with only one round in the 60’s). Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 30 year old Spanish golfer seemed to have a good touch on and around the greens, ranking high in each of the short game categories. Even with a poor final round by his standards, Pablo still dropped only six shots in total throughout the week. His next win is surely around the corner.
