Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Morten Ørum Madsen converted five birdies on his way to a bogey free final round 67, to emerge as the winner of the South African Open Championship Hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni by two shots. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 25 year old Danish golfer seemed to overpower the Glendower course, ranking 8th for Driving Distance, 4th for Greens in Regulation and 2nd for par 5’s in two - accumulating 24 birdies in total with some superb scoring on the Par 4’s and Par 5’s. Congratulations to Morten on his first European Tour victory.

Jbe Kruger converted one eagle and seven birdies against two bogeys on his way to a superb final round 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 27 year old South African only managed to hit 35.7% of the fairways, but this did not stop him ranking high for pretty much every other category, including 1st for Par 3 Scoring with a fantastic 2.75 average. After missing ten straight cuts on the European Tour at the finish of last season, this runner-up result will no doubt boost Jbe’s confidence for the start of his 2014 campaign.

Hennie Otto converted seven birdies against one bogey and one double bogey on his way to a final round 68. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 37 year old South African was very strong from tee to green, ranking 2nd for Driving Accuracy, 4th for Greens in Regulation and 2nd for Par 5’s in 2, plus he holed plenty of putts as well - enabling him to accumulate the most birdies out of all the players for the week (27 in total). Although some will say Hennie let this one slip away in the closing stages, this runner-up result is still a great start to his 2014 season.

Marco Crespi converted five birdies against three bogeys on his way to a final round 70. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 35 year old Italian golfer performed well in most departments of the game, including ranking 1st for Driving Accuracy with 45/56 fairways (including hitting all 14 of them over the final day). After finishing 3rd at the European Tour Qualifying School last week, this fourth place finish gets Marco off to a fantastic start on the 2014 Race to Dubai.

Charl Schwartzel converted six birdies against one double bogey and one triple bogey on his way to a final round 71. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 29 year old South African produced some impressive figures, such as averaging a huge 321 yards for Driving Distance, Scrambling for Pars 73.7% when missing the greens and ranking 2nd for Par 3 Scoring with a 2.81 average (even with a triple bogey on the 6th hole today). Few would have bet against Charl at the start of the final round, but sometimes even the very best don’t quite pull it off.
