The American has claimed two further titles on the PGA TOUR since winning his first Rolex Series event last summer, and he will once again vie for victory alongside stars including fellow former Genesis Scottish Open winner Rory McIlroy – the man he held off to lift the trophy in 2025.

Gotterup shared the third-round lead with the five-time Major winner in East Lothian last season and held his nerve to open up a two-shot lead on Sunday to secure his maiden DP World Tour title and earn a debut appearance at The Open the following week – going on to finish in third place.

Gotterup has since enjoyed a stellar start to the 2026 PGA TOUR season, winning the Sony Open in Hawaii and WM Phoenix Open to claim two of the first four titles available.

Gotterup said: “Last year was very special - the way I hung in there on Sunday, winning the Genesis Scottish Open title on my debut, lifting a trophy in the home of golf, all made it an amazing week.

“I’ve had a great start to the season so far and I can’t wait to get back to the Renaissance Club to defend my title in July.”

The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World and the FedExCup, and boasts Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from South Korea, as title sponsor.

Genesis is title partner of two tournaments on the 2026 Race to Dubai, with the Genesis Championship in Korea rounding out the Back 9 in October, as well as two tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s 2026 schedule, with the Genesis Scottish Open following last week’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, which ended with an impressive breakout win for American Jacob Bridgeman.

The event benefits from the continued commitment of the Scottish Government and VisitScotland, and retains its place in golf’s global calendar the week ahead of The Open as part of these agreements through to 2026.

The fan experience at the Genesis Scottish Open includes the Fringe by the Tee pop-up stage, in conjunction with the Fringe by the Sea festival, which in 2025 featured a Saturday headline slot from KT Tunstall, the Grammy-nominated, Brit Award-winning artist, with this year’s line-up to be announced soon.
