Chris Hanson was delighted after his second-round 65 moved him into a share of second place at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Hanson began the day three shots behind overnight co-leaders Paul Dunne and defending champion Charl Schwartzel after posting an opening 69 on Thursday.
The Englishman reached the turn in 31 shots on Friday after making birdies at the second, third, sixth and ninth holes.
After picking up further shots at the tenth, 11th and 14th, Hanson dropped his only shot of the day at the 15th.
The front nine was relatively stress free, which is always nice - Chris Hanson
But he bounced back in style, firing a birdie at the last to get to ten under and join Schwartzel in second, one shot behind halfway leader Brandon Stone.
After his round, Hanson said: "I played quite nicely yesterday, stayed patient and only managed to shoot three under so to go out there and have a similar sort of game today and hole a few putts and take advantage of a few close shots - it was pleasing to shoot seven under.
"The front nine was relatively stress free, which is always nice. I made one slip-up on the back nine but other than that it was a really nice back nine as well and it was nice to birdie the last to shoot seven under.
"It’s a great last hole - a fantastic par five. I managed to hit a good tee shot so that set me up to go for the green in two and I managed to capitalise on that.
"I've had four weeks off since the Tour finished for me in Portugal and back home in the cold you don’t get to do too much work, but I had a good few days in Dubai before I came out to here and my game feels in good shape relative to not actually playing a lot of golf really."
