Indoor Golf Group Challenge: Tournament Guide

The European Challenge Tour remains in Sweden this week for the second of back-to-back events in the country. Here's all you need to know before the Indoor Golf Group Challenge begins on Thursday.

Landeryds Golfklubb makes its debut as a host venue on the European Challenge Tour this week for the second edition of the Indoor Golf Group Challenge. As one of Sweden’s largest golfing facilities, Landeryds is based just outside Linköping in Sweden and has three 18-hole courses. This week, the 215-strong field will be tackling the Vesterby Links where it’s not all about length off the tee. The difficulty of navigating the par-71 course comes on the greens which are raised, undulating and fast.

The first edition of the Indoor Golf Group Challenge saw home favourite Mikael Lindberg triumph by three strokes at Allerum Golf Club. The Swede’s breakthrough win came after the tournament was reduced to 54 holes due to inclement weather in Helsingborg. Trailing by one going into a delayed final round, Lindberg fired a five under par 66 on Sunday to secure a memorable win. The 30-year-old would go on to secure promotion to the DP World Tour soon after, eventually finishing fifth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

This week provides the field with one of only six remaining opportunities to force their way into the top 45 in the Rankings which would make sure of a place at the season-ending Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A at Club de Golf Alconada. A win would go a long way to making a place in the field in Mallorca a possibility for all of the players teeing it up this week.

Indoor Golf Group, the title sponsor of this week’s tournament, are contributing to the development of golf in Sweden by making the sport accessible all year round. They have 19 locations across the country that provide golf in an indoor setting, all fitted with Trackman technology. Alongside that, they’re assisting young elite players - such as Adam Blomme, Rasmus Rosin and Jesper Svensson who will all tee it up this week – to reach their full potential. Blomme and Svensson are both currently in the top 20 of the Rankings.
