Italian Open: Day 3 in numbers

Following a nostalgic, action-packed third round at the 2017 Italian Open, europeantour.com takes a numerical look back at the best of the storylines.

17- Shots under par for third round leader Matt Wallace, who takes a two-shot advantage into the final day in Milan

2- Wallace will be looking for his second European Tour title after victory in the Open de Portugal earlier this year. Should he win on Sunday, he would become the first player to claim his first two events in wire-to-wire fashion since Rory McIlroy (2009 Dubai Desert Classic, 2011 US Open)

10- The Englishman is ten under par on the par fives this week (lower than anyone else) having made eight birdies and an eagle in nine holes

62- Since missing five of six cuts, Tyrrell Hatton is now 62 under for his last 15 rounds. He has also been inside the top ten after 12 of his last 13 rounds on Tour!

Tommy Fleetwood - 13 under par heading into the weekend at the Italian Open

26- It was the Englishman's 26th birthday on Moving Day as he celebrated with a six under par 65

20- Hatton has made 20 birdies so far this week, top alongside defending champion Francesco Molinari

37- Shots under par Molinari is for his last seven rounds at Golf Club Milano. The 2016 winner, who also captured the title in 2006, will start the final round two back and would become the first player to win more than two Italian Opens since the 1950s if he lifts the trophy on Sunday

25- Molinari has been inside the top 25 after his last 15 Italian Open rounds (1st, 16th, 7th, 18th, 2nd, 25th, 16th, 20th, 2nd, 6th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 5th, 2nd)

18- Years since a three year old Austin Connelly met his idol Sergio Garcia ahead of the Spaniard's first professional appearance at the Byron Nelson in America. On Saturday, the two were playing partners with Garcia shooting 70 and Connelly 72.

55- Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood played together on Sunday, shooting 64 and 63 respectively for a better-ball score of 55 (!)

33- Eagles on the par five 14th so far this week. Only the 12th hole at Wentworth has seen more eagles so far this season (42)
