Marcus Fraser produced the lowest round of his European Tour career on Friday to grab a share of the lead at the halfway stage of the Italian Open.
Englishman Matt Wallace was alongside Fraser on 13 under par after following up Thursday's 64 with a sensational 65.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Jamie Donaldson were two strokes further back in a tie for third courtesy of late eagles in their second rounds, while defending champion Francesco Molinari was alone in fifth on ten under.
Here, we take a look at what those in the chasing pack had to say after their rounds.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat (67, -11)
"I was still hitting a lot of great quality shots today. On the front nine, the putter didn't work as well as yesterday but overall, I still shot under par on the front. There was just a bad chip on 12 but overall four under (for the day) is still in position."
Jamie Donaldson (67, -11)
On his eagle at the ninth - his last: "I couldn't quite get there with a 3 wood so hit a driver off the deck and came out so perfect. It was nice to get it down there, only two feet from the hole. Yeah, one of my great shots.
"I played well again. The putter wasn't quite as warm today as it was yesterday. But yeah, overall, I'm happy. I hit a lot of good shots. Especially coming towards the end of the round there."
Francesco Molinari (68, -10)
"Obviously it wasn't the quickest start today. It wasn't easy but everyone was obviously willing me to do well and I tried to staycalm and stay in my own bubble. I did that pretty well. So yeah, a different day than yesterday obviously. Things didn't come as easy as yesterday but I fought well. I hit some good golf shots and I want to do better tomorrow."
