Swede Fredrik Jacobson continued to lead the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai - but the European challenge was far from a one-man band.
Lee Westwood, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell all made their presence felt on the leaderboard in a third round of more low scoring.
Jacobson, one in front of Australian Adam Scott and South African Louis Oosthuizen overnight, had a hat-trick of birdies from the second hole, but drove into the rough on the ninth and had his first bogey since the seventh hole of day one.
The World Number 54 came straight back with a 15 foot birdie putt on the next, however, and at 14 under par led by two from Oosthuizen and by three from Westwood, Casey and Germany's Martin Kaymer.
Westwood, runner-up to Francesco Molinari last year, had four birdies in the first ten holes, while Kaymer recovered from two early bogeys with six birdies, four of them in a row at the start of the inward half.
Casey, meanwhile, was in second place after a 15 foot eagle putt on the eighth, but was disturbed by a noise on the tenth tee, pushed his iron into thick rough and double-bogeyed.
It was a big blow, but he began to repair the damage by chipping in for birdie two holes later.
McIlroy found his best form of the week to be five under for the day and ten under for the tournament with three to play, with fellow Ulsterman McDowell alongside him after he turned in a four under 32.
Scott was on the same mark having taken a double bogey seven at the long eighth, where he tried and failed to hit his ball out of the water left of the fairway.
