Indian Shiv Kapur - 361st in the Official World Golf Rankings – led as the final round of the South African Open Championship drew towards an exciting conclusion at Pearl Valley Golf Estates.
Spaniard Pablo Martin, winner of the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week, led by one overnight, but bogeyed the long third to drop back to ten under.
Fredrik Andersson Hed, who was at The European Tour Qualifying School two weeks ago, reached 12 under with four birdies and a bogey in the first five holes, but then had another bogey on the next to slip back alongside Kapur.
As a result five players were separated by a single shot, Italian Edoardo Molinari and South African James Kingston, champion two years ago, being alongside Martin.
Kapur, chasing his first victory on the circuit, added further birdies on the tenth and 11th and went two clear.
Andersson Hed, in contrast, bogeyed the last two holes on the front nine and fell four behind.
Leading the chase by then were Molinari, who had a hat-trick of birdies from the fifth, South African Darren Fichardt and Scot Richie Ramsay.
Fichardt was seven under for the day with three to play, while Ramsay turned in 33 and then holed from 20 feet at the short 12th to be 11 under as well.
