Kjeldsen maintains advantage

Søren Kjeldsen still held a three shot lead as a thrilling finish looked likely during the final round of the Volvo Masters at Valderrama.

Volvo Masters - Day 4

Kjeldsen parred the first six holes of his final round to stay eight under par, a score he reached after completing a third round 69 this morning.

Martin Kaymer and Lee Wetswood are on five under after nine and six holes respectively.

Sergio Garcia had also been five under after three rounds, but as Kjeldsen and Westwood matched each other shot for shot over the opening five holes, Garcia fell four behind when he bogeyed the short third.

Westwood was aiming to overhaul the Dane to claim not only his first tournament victory of the season, but also The Order of Merit crown.

With Robert Karlssom and Padraig Harrington seemingly out of contention, victory for the Worksop golfer looked certain to be enough to give him The Harry Vardon Trophy.

Westwood’s compatriot Anthony Wall was still in contention at a soggy Valderrama on four under after six holes.
