Pablo Larrazábal entered the winner's circle for the second time in four weeks, while the home heroes gave the bumper crowds plenty to shout about at the 2023 KLM Open. Here is everything you need to know from Bernardus Golf.

Larrazábal wins again

Pablo Larrazábal arrived in the Netherlands fresh from playing four rounds at last week's US PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club but that didn't seem to affect the Spaniard at all. After posting scores of 66 and 73 on Thursday and Friday respectively, Larrazábal - who turned 40 a fortnight ago - took over at the top thanks to a bogey-free 67 on Saturday. And despite making a double bogey early in the final round to slip from the summit, he carded a series of late birdies to climb to the top of a congested leaderboard and win for the second time in three starts following his Korea Championship Presented by Genesis victory four weeks ago. After his two-shot win, Larrazábal said: "This is an historic trophy, this is one of the best. This is right up there with the most famous trophies we have on the DP World Tour."

Lorenzo-Vera makes amazing ace

Home to the tournament's Beat the Pro event, the eighth hole produced a lot of excitement and drama throughout the week. That reached a climax in Sunday's final round as Mike Lorenzo-Vera holed his tee-shot from 158 yards using an eight iron for a memorable hole-in-one. He said: "The thing is, I've been playing golf now for 32 years and I never had any so I don't even think about it. Actually my caddie said to me when we started working together 'Oh you've never had any? You're going to have one with me'. Three weeks after, it proved. So hopefully he's going to tell me the same thing with a trophy one day!"

Højgaard's magic touch

Dutch duo put on Sunday show for home crowd

Home heroes Joost Luiten and Rowin Caron enjoyed brilliant support from the Cromvoirt crowds as they played together on Sunday afternoon. And they rewarded the large galleries with some sensational golf, with Caron making five birdies in his closing 70 to finish as the leading Dutchman on seven under par - six shots behind Larrazábal.

Meronk's fabulous fightback

Heading into Friday's second round looking to build on his opening 69, Adrian Meronk instead found himself battling to make the cut after carding back-to-back double bogeys at the first and second to slip to one over par. But he kept a cool head and fought back brilliantly, picking up shots at the fourth and seventh before reeling off a hat-trick of birdies from the tenth and adding another on the 17th to head into the weekend on five under. He then produced rounds of 69 and 71 over the weekend to finish in a tie for fifth on nine under.
