Kristoffer Reitan happy with 60 after going low on Sunday again in Salzburg

Last week's winner Kristoffer Reitan enjoyed another Sunday to remember as he fired a sparkling 60 in the final round of the Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand.

After coming from nine shots back to win the Soudal Open in a play-off following a course-record 62 seven days ago, the Norwegian caught fire in the final round again in Austria to pile pressure on the leaders before securing a joint-second place finish with a 17-under-par total.

Starting the day eight shots off the lead, Reitan turned in 29 after following up birdies at the second and fourth with four in a row from the sixth.

He made another birdie on the 11th before pouring in his 34-foot putt on the difficult 12th to make it back-to-back gains and grab a share of the lead on 15 under.

A further birdie at the 15th meant Reitan needed to pick up just two more shots over the last three holes for a 59.

And the 27-year-old gave himself a good chance for an eagle at the 18th, only for his 26-foot try to slide just by.

Reitan admitted a 59 did enter his mind at the midway stage of the round but he was happy to settle for a 60 one week on from his maiden win.

He said: "I had a good feeling this morning and obviously after last week as well.

"I've been trying lately to not hold myself back and let my talent out a little bit.

"I was really trying to do that today.

"More towards the end I got more nervous but I was trying to do the same things and it's obviously more difficult towards the end but I still managed to do it to some degree at least and I'm obviously very happy with 60.

"It (59) was in the back of my mind (at the turn) but I was just trying to make as many birdies as possible, play the course as well as I could and once I was in the fairway on the last, that's when I knew I had a shot at it.

"I was a little bit gutted about the putt that I read that one wrong but I'll take 60! That's fine."
