Davis Love III held the upper hand over Tiger Woods after the morning round of the 36 hole final of the WGC – Accenture Match Play at La Costa Resort & Spa. The Number Three seed led the Number One seed and defending champion by one hole at lunch.
Throughout the morning round, Love III held the whip hand. He led three times before being pegged back by Woods on each occasion before making the telling thrust in the latter stages of the morning round.
Love III won both the 16th ands 17th holes with conceded birdies before Woods put some respectability on the scoreline, taking the 18th with a birdie four after Love III found the greenside bunker with his approach and could do no better than par five.
