The former World Number One - who will once again lead Team Europe against the United States in September, following the memorable victory in Rome two years ago - will headline an international field as the Turkish Airlines Open takes its place on the Race to Dubai for the first time since 2019.

The seven-time DP World Tour winner made history in 2011 as the first player to top the season-long money lists on both the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR, and is now Europe’s first repeat Captain since Bernard Gallacher performed the role in 1991, 1993 and 1995.

Donald, who last teed it up at the Turkish Airlines Open in 2014, said: “It’s been more than ten years since I last teed it it up in Turkey, and I’m really pleased to be able to add the Turkish Airlines Open to my schedule.

“This event was a fixture on the Race to Dubai for many years, most recently with some impressive European wins, and I’m looking forward to competing at Regnum Carya as the event returns to the DP World Tour.”

The Turkish Airlines Open was previously part of the Race to Dubai from 2013-2019, with eight-time DP World Tour winner Tyrell Hatton claiming the title in the last edition after a thrilling play-off under the lights at The Montgomerie Maxx Royal in 2019. Other former winners include his fellow European Ryder Cup players Justin Rose (2017, 2018), Thorbjørn Olesen (2016) and Victor Dubuisson (2013, 2015), and four-time Major winner Brooks Koepka (2014).

Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to more countries than any other, has returned as title partner through a partnership with the Turkish Golf Federation, having previously title partnered the event from 2013-2019. Additionally, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, the world's largest amateur golf tournament organised by the flag carrier since 2013, is being held in 117 destinations in 73 countries this year.
