Justin Rose and Matteo Manassero have work to do after Robert Garrigus catapulted himself into a three shot lead at the halfway stage of the Valspar Championship with a fantastic five under par round.
The 36 year old American, whose sole victory on the US PGA Tour came in 2010, carded six birdies and a bogey in his 66 to storm to the top of the leaderboard on seven under par overall at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Closest challenger Kevin Na was marvellously consistent in his 68 on day two, where he managed a bogey-free round and collected birdies at the 14th, first and ninth holes.
His birdie on the final hole ensured he was out on his own in second place, with England's Rose, Italian Manassero and American duo Matt Every and Pat Perez on three under overall.
US Open Champion Rose started in confident fashion on the back nine with a birdie and then moved to four under for his round before two bogeys pegged him back.
The 33 year old finished on a positive note with a birdie at the ninth, however, to keep himself in contention ahead of the weekend.
