Nexo Championship: Fantasy DP World Tour Powered by Axi ones to watch

The Nexo Championship brings down the curtain on the Closing Swing this week and here is all that players of Fantasy DP World Tour Powered by Axi need to know.

Over five events across Europe and the USA, DP World Tour members have been vying for the crown of Closing Swing champion and the chance to play their way into the upcoming Back 9.

With Stefano Mazzoli and Jeff Winther not teeing it up in Scotland, Todd Clements is the best-placed player on the Closing Swing Rankings.

Defending champion Grant Forrest is one of 15 Scottish players in the field at Trump International Golf Links, alongside among others Ewen Ferguson, Connor Syme and Aberdeen local David Law.

Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World leader Patrick Reed is the headline name teeing it up as he targets his third title of the season on his tournament debut.

Eugenio Chacarra and Casey Jarvis also both have two wins and are the American's nearest season-long rivals on show.

American John Daly II, the son of Major champion John Daly, will make his professional debut on golf’s Global Tour, while Simon Zach takes up a playing opportunity after winning the NEXT Golf Tour which is played exclusively on Trackman simulators.

Who are the most backed players

Home favourite Ferguson leads the way among the most popular players, featuring in 37% of teams. He is quickly followed on by South Africa's Jarvis, who is in 36% of teams.

Reed is third ahead of his tournament debut, accounting for 32% of teams.

The top five is rounded out by two-time PGA TOUR winner K.H. Lee and Chinese star Haotong Li.

What is the Axi Edge Score?

The Axi Edge Score made a spectacular debut last week as it tipped Jeff Winther, with the Dane going on to win his second DP World Tour title at the Danish Golf Championship on home soil.

The Axi Edge Score is a rating from 0-100 combining form, consistency and upside into a single score making it easier to compare players and gain the edge on your rivals.

The score is built entirely from data the Fantasy game already produces, via a composite golfer rating as follows:

Skill (50%)

What it measures: How well is this golfer scoring right now?

Average fantasy points per tournament over the golfer's last five completed events

Consistency (30%)

What it measures: How reliable is this golfer?

% of last five tournaments where the golfer finished above the field median Fantasy score

Risk (20%)

What it measures: How volatile is this player from week-to-week?

Best single-tournament Fantasy score in the last five events

Who has the Edge?

Favourite - Eugenio Chacarra

Third on the Race to Dubai, the Spaniard is one of the most consistent performers this season. Since a runner-up finish on his title defence in India in March, he has missed just one cut and won twice - back-to-back. The 36-year-old has an impressive scoring average of 69.76 across his 20 starts in the campaign. While relatively new to links golf and the challenges it brings, his game is one that appears to travel and it wouldn't be a great surprise if the World Number 64 won his fourth DP World Tour title and third this season. Played all four rounds at last year's Nexo Championship.

Favourite - Patrick Reed

As a Major champion, the Race to Dubai leader and one of four players to have won multiple times so far this season, this should come as no great surprise. Since the second of his two wins in Dubai and Qatar respectively, the American has recorded a further four finishes inside the top 15, including a share of 13th place at the Genesis Scottish Open over a modern links layout at The Renaissance Club last month. Ranked just outside the world's top 30, the 36-year-old is unquestionably the man to beat.

Form Horse - Jacob Skov Olesen

The Dane has climbed into the top 20 on the Race to Dubai after back-to-back top tens in the Dominican Republic and Denmark. Those performances mean he is in the mix to top the Closing Swing Rankings if he can maintain his momentum. A winner of the Amateur Championship in 2024 and the first-round co-leader at the Open Championship a year later, he is clearly a player who relishes links conditions. After seeing compatriots Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Jeff Winther win so far this season, could he be inspired to join them in the winner's circle?

Looking Back - Danish Golf Championship

As mentioned earlier, trust in the Axi Edge Score.

Picked by 5.91% of players, Winther rewarded those Fantasy players with 205 points.

Our Favourite Eugenio Chacarra comfortably made the cut with a second-round 67 but was unable to build on that over the weekend as he finished in a tie for 64th, with Form Horse Oliver Lindell finishing tied second.
