A brilliant course-record 62 secured a two-stroke victory for Swede Alex Noren in the first of the Rolex Series events.
Victory earned Noren 1,041,940 points and catapulted him from from 26th to fourth position in the Race to Dubai Rankings, as he recaptured the stunning form from last season when he won four tournaments in four months.
His BMW PGA Championship performance has also booked his place in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship Dubai, hosted by Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 16-19.
Italy's Francesco Molinari (68) finished runner-up on 279, one ahead of Sweden's Henrik Stenson (68) who was joint-third along with Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts (65) and Hideto Tanihara of Japan (68) on eight-under par.
Molinari gained 694,624 points for his second-place finish and moved from 62nd to tenth while Stenson jumped from 29th to 16th. Colsaerts and Tanihara claimed 323,003 points each after sharing third place in this Rolex Series opener.
Colsaerts made a spectacular jump from 114th to 34th which was the biggest leap in the Race to Dubai whereas Tanihara moved from 13th to eighth.
England's Graeme Storm, Australia's Andrew Dodt, Ireland's Shane Lowry and were all tied in sixth, gaining 187,550 points each in the process. Storm climbed from 40th to 25th, Dodt moved from 43rd to 28th and Lowry progressed from 143rd to 57th, so the Irishman is now in the sought-after top 60 which is where he needs to finish to book his place in the prestigious DP World Tour Championship.
South African duo Branden Grace and Dean Burmester and England's Ross Fisher shared ninth place and won 126,700 points each. Grace advanced from 48th to 35th, Burmester moved from 25th to 20th and Fisher solidified his place in sixth. If Fisher continues this form he’ll have a fantastic chance of finishing in the top ten in the Race to Dubai for the first time in eight seasons and securing a share of the lucrative $5,000,000 bonus pool, along with this weekend’s champion Noren.
England duo Justin Rose and Matthew Fitzpatrick shared 12th and each of them claimed 104,090 points. Rose dropped from fourth to fifth while Fitzpatrick dropped from 28th to 30th.
