Oosthuizen charges into a share of the lead

Louis Oosthuizen made a spectacular start to his back nine to join Arjun Atwal at the top of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open leaderboard midway through the final round.

Former Open champion Oosthuizen began his final round six shots adrift of leaders Atwal and Louis De Jager, and there was little sign of a late title tilt when he turned in a one under par 34.

However, the South African started for home with a hat-trick of birdies and then hit a spectacular second to the par five 14th to set up his second eagle of the day.

At 13 under he joined Atwal on top of the leaderboard, with the Indian having recovered from a bogey at the first with a birdie at the long next to be level par through six holes.

Windy conditions were making life tough at Heritage Golf Club, with South African pair De Jager and Dylan Fritelli a shot off the lead.

De Jager had bogeyed the first after three-putting, while Fritelli was level par through six holes after chipping in for par after finding trouble off the tee at the sixth.

Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines had briefly led after chipping in for an eagle on the second, only to then bogey the next and lose his ball off the tee at the fourth en route to a double bogey.

Tabuena was 11 under, alongside George Coetzee, Romain Langasque and Jose-Filipe Lima.

Oosthuizen's challenge ended as abruptly as it began, with a wayward shot finding trees on the 16th and leading to a triple-boey seven.

Atwal birdied the seventh to reach 14 under but dropped a shot at the next after finding a bunker off the tee, and was joined by Tabuena, who birdied the ninth to turn in a topsy-turvy 34.

They found themselves one behind Fritelli, who got up-and-down from a greenside bunker on the driveable ninth fo birdie to lead by a single shot.
