Adrian Otaegui and Peter Uihlein will take a share of the lead into the third round of the HNA Open de France after a weather-affected day at Le Golf National.
That was no problem for Uihlein, however, as he signed for a 67 to join Otaegui at the summit.
In-form Tommy Fleetwood and Swede Alexander Björk were then at seven under, a shot clear of English duo Nathan Kimsey and Paul Waring.
This week's performance is a welcome return to form for Otaegui, who had missed six cuts in a row before making the weekend at last week's BMW International Open.
The Spaniard bogeyed the second but got his round back on rack with birdies on the sixth, ninth and tenth. A hat-trick of birdies from the 14th - highlighted by a 40-foot putt on the 16th then moved him ahead.
"I made a bogey on the second and missed a five iron just on the right and couldn't make the up-and-down," he said. "And after that I played great from the tee and made good swings with the driver and the three wood.
"Made a birdie on six with a good second shot and chipped in on nine. That helped as well. Then played really well on the second nine. Had a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and then I was lucky as well to hole two long putts, so happy with the round.
"Just play well again tomorrow. Obviously very good players here playing. Just have to focus on my game and that's all."
Uihlein has three top tens to his name this season after seeing last term interrupted by a wrist injury and has made just one bogey so far on the course that will host next year's Ryder Cup.
The American birdied the third and ninth and a hat-trick of gains from the 13th after the delay had him in the lead on his own before that solitary dropped shot on the 17th.
"It was a good day," he said. "I hit it pretty good. Made some nice putts I guess. I was pretty steady, really, so it was all right.
"When the rain came and they said we could go back out, I figured the greens would be a lot better and the wind died after the storm. I figured it actually wasn't the worst time to actually have a little breather."
Björk picked up birdies on the 11th, 14th and 17th to turn in 32 and while he dropped his first shot of the week after failing to get up and down on the first, he picked it straight back up on the next with a tee-shot to eight feet before dropping a shot on the eighth after the delay.
Fleetwood birdied the first from ten feet and drained a 30-footer on the seventh but a three-putt on the eighth dropped him back to five under. A fine tee-shot on the 11th then set up a gain before he took advantage of the par five 14th for the second day in a row.
Waring made a positive start with birdies on the 13th and 14th and despite a dropped shot on the 17th, when he rolled in a 30-footer on the 18th, he led by two shots.
He found the water on the first - and was lucky not to find it again from the drop-zone - as he made a double-bogey and when he dropped another shot on the fourth, the chasing pack were able to close in.
Kimsey was level par for the day when the storms came and while he bogeyed the 14th, he made gains on the 16th and 17th.
Graeme Storm - the 2007 champion - carded a 66 to sit at five under alongside Ross Fisher and Thomas Pieters, with eight players a further shot back.
